HEART & SOUL NEBULA
The Heart Nebula (IC 1805, Sharpless 190, Sh2-190) is a large emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. The young stars from the open star cluster Melotte 15 are eroding the dust pillars with energetic light and winds. The stellar winds create the heart shape from the hot stars in its core.
The Fishhead Nebula (IC 1795) features glowing gas and dark dust clouds near the Heart Nebula. It is part of a complex of star-forming regions at the edge of a large molecular cloud.
The Soul Nebula (IC 1848), also known as the Embryo Nebula, is an emission nebula in the Cassiopeia constellation. The Soul Nebula is near the Heart Nebula and often imaged together and mentioned as the “Heart and Soul.”
With narrowband filters, I can take images of emission nebulae at home. I decided to image the Heart and Soul Nebula using the Optolong L-eXtreme filter.
